I believe that every student deserves an equitable education that allows them to meet their full potential. It is my duty as their educator to empower them with the resources that they will need beyond the classroom and into their communities.
Not only am I a classroom teacher, I am also an instructional leader, curriculum developer, and developer of effectiveness in other educators.
One other thing! Urban communities have a special place in my heart. Not only because I am a product of one, but also because this is the community I have been called to serve. I started teaching in an urban community and still teach in an urban community. My goal is to disrupt an inequitable education system that seems to permeate through my classes and schools. I want to disrupt the ideas, disrupt the mindsets, disrupt the inequality about the student legends in the making in urban schools. I even want to disrupt the negative labels aka inner city, Title I, and yes, even hood school.
